Prof. Ferdinand Ahiakpor
Professor of Economics (currently on formal secondment)
Prof. Ferdinand Ahiakpor is a Professor of Economics at the School of Economics, University of Cape Coast, currently on formal secondment as Deputy Managing Director of the Agricultural Development Bank of Ghana. In this national leadership role he applies his expertise in economic policy and finance to the strategic direction of one of Ghana's foremost development finance institutions. His departmental affiliation with DSEP remains active, and he continues to support the Department's engagement with the ADB, including the Data Literacy Week and the Data Science Outreach and Mentorship Club.
He brings substantial expertise in labour economics, industrial economics, economic policy modelling, and the analysis of firm behaviour in developing countries. His research has addressed firm capacity utilisation, foreign ownership, trade liberalisation, monetary policy and fiscal dynamics in Ghana and sub-Saharan Africa. He has co-authored peer-reviewed publications with colleagues from DSEP and other institutions, and has been an active participant in capacity-building and policy research initiatives coordinated by the AERC.
